[ SHORT ANSWER ]
A website for a small business costs anywhere from a few hundred euros for a template you fill in yourself to several thousand for a custom site with copy and SEO. With me, a landing page starts at €1,200 and a business website (up to 5–7 pages) at €2,500. Both include the copy, custom design, SEO basics, and domain and hosting for the first year.
Why do some websites cost €300 and others €3,000?
Because they aren't the same product. "A website" can mean three very different things:
| Type | What you get | What you do yourself |
|---|---|---|
| Website builder (Wix and similar) | A template and an editor, for a monthly fee | Everything: copy, images, structure, SEO |
| Budget build | A ready-made theme with your logo and colours | Usually the copy and photos |
| Custom website | Strategy, copy, design, build, SEO and support | A call and approvals (a few hours in total) |
Most of the price difference is about who does the work. The most expensive part of a good website isn't the code. It's the copy that explains why someone should choose you.
What drives the price of a website?
- Number of pages. A landing page with one offer is simpler than a site with ten services.
- Copy and photos. If you don't have them, someone has to write and prepare them.
- Languages. Every language is a new set of copy, not just a translation.
- Special features. Bookings, a blog or connections to other systems.
- Deadline. Rush projects mean other work has to move.
What it costs with me
| Service | Description | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Landing page | One page: copy, custom design, SEO basics, Google profile | from €1,200 |
| Business website | Up to 5–7 pages: copy, custom design, SEO basics, Google profile | from €2,500 |
| Custom website | Multiple languages, blog, bookings or special features | on request |
| Branding | Logo, colour palette and fonts | from €1,000 |
| Copywriting | Copy for websites, ads and service descriptions (HR, EN, DE) | €40 per hour |
| Domain & hosting, year one | Included with every website | included |
| Support & consulting after launch | 4 weeks, included with every website | included |
| Domain & hosting, from year two | Depends on the domain and hosting chosen | on request |
I'm not VAT-registered, so no VAT is added. You pay 50% before work starts and 50% at launch. You get the exact price in a written quote after a free call. All prices are also on the pricing page.
Why is a web designer in Croatia cheaper?
Not because of lower quality, but because of lower living and running costs. The tools, standards and technology are the same as in London, Berlin or Vienna. I work in the same time zone as most of Europe (CET), and everything happens online: calls, approvals and launch.
What are the costs after launch?
- Domain and hosting: free for the first year. From year two the price depends on the domain and hosting you choose, and you know the amount in advance.
- Changes and maintenance: the first 4 weeks after launch are included. After that, as agreed.
- Not part of the build: professional photography and paid ads (Google, Meta).
With a website builder you pay a monthly fee for as long as the site exists. Added up over a few years, the difference in total cost is often smaller than it first looks.
How to compare two quotes
Before you sign, ask everyone the same questions:
- Who writes the copy, and is it included in the price?
- Who owns the domain, code and copy after payment?
- Is SEO included: titles, descriptions, structure, Google profile?
- How long is support after launch, and what does it cover?
- Is the price fixed and in writing?
If you don't get a clear answer to one of these, the low price probably isn't the whole price.
